Care
Sorry, but even if you take care of your orchids like a professional, you will never have such a special plant because this is art from Anne Geddes :-))))
Maybe you have heard or read that it's difficult to cultivate orchids. It isn't that difficult if you know a bit more about the care of this exotic plants. There are orchids which are easy to cultivate and good to start with for the novice. Phalaenopsis, for example is a lovely orchid and fairly easy to start with or there are some other easy growing hybrids perfect for a windowsill . There are some rules like watering, feeding etc. to read about under my other topics.
Since breeders have a lot of hybrids, it has become easier for people to care for these hybrids as opposed to caring for the original, natural forms.
When you click on the thumbnails in my gallery, you will go on the page of each orchid I cultivate. There you can read about the conditions how I keep my plants. Please note: this is just my experience with the conditions I have at my home. I don't offer cultivating programs because there are already so many on the web. You can find some links from other orchid pages under my Links page.
My philosophy is: get enough knowledge about an orchid and if you can give it the optimal conditions you can buy it. It is important to watch your orchid. You will find out in a short time if the orchid likes the conditions or not. The leaves are the mirrors of an orchid. If they are not ok, then you must change the conditions. It's the same with the roots and the flowers, if they are not ok, then you must figure out what is wrong.
You can read about this orchid on the internet, ask other orchid growers or read more about in special books. I think it's worthwhile to read about a specific orchid where it origin is. This tells you a lot about temperature, rainfall and light. Try then to give it the best as possible condition at your home.
If you want to keep mounted orchids, you must know that you will need someone to take care of them when you are on holidays. And this is not always easy.
An interesting fact: Some orchid keepers don't do a lot for their plants. They ignore them often; keep them in impossible places but their orchids bloom and bloom and bloom. Other keepers do a lot for their plants, expensive plant food, perfect humidity etc. but the orchids don't bloom and don't grow or even die. This phenomenon will forever be a secret.
