A candle for every women who died on Breast cancer
Welcome to my Breast Cancer page. This page is dedicated to women allover the world who died on Breast Cancer or are survivers, like me. Too many women in this world still die on Breast Cancer.

My story:

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1999. I needed an operation , Chemotherapy and Radiation. I had a fairly hard time with ups and downs. This treatment based on the situation , the size of tumor, my age and my hormone receptor.

I lost my hair allover and had to wear a wig. I didn't mind to loose my hair on my head and my eye brows. But I minded a lot when I started to loose my eye lashes. My Chemo was fortunately over befor I lost all eye lashes. I got my hair back very quickly. It was even nicer than before.

I  had times with fear and times with hope. My prognosis wasn't that good, based on bad scoring. But I'm still here :-) When all the treatments were over, it was time to think about the big: WHY, why me. I had no family history, never smoked, ate healthy etc. I read a lot about Breast Cancer, talked to doctors and other people with Breast Cancer. I wanted to change something in my life. The doctors did their best with their treatments. I wanted to do something for surviving by myself. So, what I do since then: I mind fat, lost weight while being with Weightwatchers. I still eat healthy with lots of fruits and vegetable. I do not eat very often meat.  I try to mind porc meat. I drink every morning Cranberry Juice. Studies in Canada show, that the flavonids in Cranberries have an anti-cancer effect. There are still a lot of researches running allover the world to prove the effects and some doctors think it doesn't show effect against cancer. I'm still convinced. But there are much more products against free radicales. I substitute my body with Selen and Zink every day.

I also did some changes in my life. Before diganosed with cancer, I was a person who didn't stopped people to hurt me. I also had kinda stressy life. I started to learn to say : NO. I give myself more rest and I take much more care of my soul. I went for a few years to a doctor , specialized for Psychooncology. It helped me to deal with the fear that cancer might comes back. After all these years, I feel much better but when I have pain somewhere, I'm nervous that something is wrong with my body. I got much more confidence back. I have a mammogram every year and a control at my Oncologe.

My philosophy

I'm very happy to hear that the research for Breast Cancer is going ahead every year. The Chemotherapies are much better. The radiation is better and there are more and more treatments to heal women. But the most important thing is: the selfexamination of your breast every month and to go for controls every year. The best is, when your doctor shows you once how you examine your breasts correctly. It's a big discuss among doctors about the mammogram. It's still a big pro and contra. They are developping scans which will hurt less but show the early stades of a growing cancer. I still think it's a good examination to discover the early stades of cancer. I don't suggest here more what you can do preventive or when you are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Below you have some links to go and read more. But you are invited to contact me at any time and ask if you have questions or you need somebody to talk about.

Below you see some photos during my Chemo. Once wearing a wig, once a turban and one photo you see me shaved.
